Talking Kindly To Yourself

Did you know, and I learned this from Stephanie Lee who heads up The Soul Project (total respect for this lady who is CBT qualified), that we have over 60,000 thoughts a day. Wow!  Can you imagine if 50% of those were negative? “You silly fool, what did you do that for?  “Oh for pity’s sake, what an idiot I am…..Oh my goodness, I look fat and ugly, does he fancy me anymore?  Blah blah.  I could write the book –  I have said them all.

Stop right there!  Would you speak to a friend like that or a colleague? No?  So why do it to yourself. Speak to yourself kindly. If you sleep in say “Wow I must have needed that sleep”.  Stop apologizing, we are a nation of sorry.  Start treating yourself with kindness and respect and suddenly everyone else will treat you in the same way.Talk to yourself like you would talk to your best-est friend in the world who you love very much. I do that every day and it makes me feel all warm inside.  It’s a fabulous and very positive way to start the day!
