“To succeed, jump as quickly at opportunities as you do at conclusions”
Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) Writer, Printer, Statesman, Humorist
When you need to make a decision do you take ages to think about it, or do you jump in feet first?
I have often been a both feet in, jump first, think later, kind of girl but that has often resulted in me making some bad decisions. That said, I am still a quick decision-making woman and I find that suits me best. I just hate to miss out on any opportunity and definitely want to be a leader and not a follower. Apart from that, I just hate to miss out.
But do you sometimes question how slowly you take to make a decision and query whether your reluctance can, in some cases, have caused you to miss out on the opportunity of your life? I know some women who have turned down the most amazing jobs because of insecurity and the “What if” head. It has, in some cases, turned out to have been a wrong decision.
Of course, as with all of life, even the wrong choices are lessons to be learned but it would be a shame if we held ourselves back just because we took time to come up with an answer.
So what does it actually take to find the extra confidence you need to simply ‘go for it’? just a few months ago I read a great book called Feel the Fear and Do it Anyway by Susan Jeffers. It literally changed my life overnight. if life offers you an amazing opportunity and down to your own insecurities you say No, how sad is that? Far better you say Yes and see what happens. After all you have nothing to lose and what you could gain is the life of your dreams.
