I follow a spiritual mentor called @yasminibrahim. A few months ago, she, and @carolinedarcy hosted a Meet your soul mate Zoom workshop. Yasmin asked that we create a list of ‘non-negotiable’ requirements we require in a soul mate, our wants and what we do not want.

It was fun as suddenly it made you realise that to find ‘the one’ you truly had to know what you are looking for.

One of the best pieces of advice Yasmin gave was to date as many people as you could be obvious of whether you felt they ticked all the boxes. That way, you would get a better understanding of what you don’t want and what you do want.

I think it’s one of the best pieces of advice I have ever received. So often, we shrink our world by going for the same ‘type’ of anything. That can apply to any element of your life, from the bars you attend and the holidays you take. We tend to go with what we ‘know’.

As I start dating again with trepidation, I intend to be more broad minded about what my type is (in truth I am not sure if I know the answer to that one myself).

With that all said, wish me well as after many years as a single woman, and at the age of 56, I hit the dating scene again with an open mind and an open heart. I am going to make sure that I do not judge a book by their cover and take each date as they come.

With love
