Have any of you had Reiki? I am a big fan, but I really think it’s a case of finding someone you really resonate with and who offers you the ‘right’ kind of Reiki.
What I mean by that, is someone with whom you have a connection and can support you through what, can be, a very dark night of the soul. In order to heal, you often have to dig deep and be exposed to truths about yourself or things you are hanging onto and that can be a bitter pill to swallow. When I think back on where I was over a year ago when I first started seeing my friend, and Reiki Master, Sarah Ilsley, I am literally a different person but when I reflect back, boy was I like a broken record. Poor Sarah! Every week, I went over and over the same ground……..”she did this, and he did that and then I did that and then I did this”…..a circle of unforgiving thoughts, both for those who I felt did me wrong and indeed a lack of forgiveness for myself.
So, can something like Reiki, really help with letting go of the past?
For me, personally, it worked a treat, but each to their own, mine was a combination of Reiki, CBT and Rapid transformational coaching/Hypnotherapy. In truth, I needed a lot of help (LOL) and I think the combined therapies worked for me; working on both the mental and the spiritual side of me.
So, if I am talking double-dutch, here is some information about what Reiki is/does –
Reiki is a form of alternative medicine called energy healing. Reiki practitioners use a technique called palm healing or hands-on healing through which a “universal energy” is said to be transferred through the palms of the practitioner to the patient in order to encourage emotional or physical healing.
In fact, a study from UCLA indicates there are true and valid benefits –
What is really interesting is that if you google Reiki it comes up over 69.5m times. Maybe, just maybe, there’s an awakening on a massive scale to alternative remedies to age-old ailments. Rather than going to the doctors and start popping a pill, people are taking things into their own hands and turning to therapies that help with their mental state on a psychological and spiritual level.
Here’s to that.
